IPTV on MAG & Formuler Boxes
Dedicated boxes with a remote-first interface — the classic choice for plug-and-play television.
MAG boxes (Infomir 250/254/322/420/520) and Formuler boxes (Z8, Z10, BT series) are purpose-built IPTV set-top boxes. There is no app store to browse and no playlist to paste with a remote keyboard: you enter the portal URL once, the box loads the entire channel package, and the interface stays the same every day — which is exactly why whole families keep them for years. Formuler's MyTVOnline system adds modern touches like VOD sections and one-app setup on top of the same stability.
Portal vs playlist: how boxes connect
MAG boxes classically use a Stalker portal: your provider gives you a portal URL, the box connects to it, and channels arrive as a complete, curated package with its own EPG. Formuler boxes accept both the portal style and modern M3U / Xtream Codes playlists through MyTVOnline2. The differences between those two worlds — and when each one is better — are explained simply in the Xtream Codes vs M3U guide.
Setting up a MAG box (254 / 322 / 420 / 520)
- Connect the box to the TV with HDMI and to the internet (the ethernet port is the most stable; Wi-Fi works on all models).
- Enter inner portal — Settings → System Settings → Servers → Portals. Set Portal 1 name (any name) and Portal 1 URL to the URL your provider gave you.
- Save and reboot the box.
- First load — the box connects to the portal and downloads the channel package; give it a minute or two.
- Done — the TV guide and channels appear exactly as configured on the portal. Test one live channel, then you are set.
If the portal URL was updated by your provider, you only change that one field and reboot — everything else stays.
Setting up a Formuler (MyTVOnline2)
- Open MyTVOnline2 from the home screen and choose Add Playlist.
- Pick the connection type — Xtream Codes login (username, password, server) for API access, or M3U link, or Stalker portal for the classic style.
- Name it and connect — the box syncs channels, EPG and VOD automatically.
- Optional: set favourites and reorder — MyTVOnline keeps custom layouts per playlist.
Formuler is also the box of choice for people who want one remote for everything — its Bluetooth remote with the voice-style keypad makes searching VOD libraries far faster than a standard MAG remote.
Why people still choose boxes
- Zero maintenance — no app updates to approve, no OS redesigns to relearn.
- Wired ethernet on every model — the most stable connection for long match nights.
- Instant-on interface — the box boots straight into the channel list; ideal for less technical viewers.
- Dedicated remote with number keys for direct channel entry.
The trade-off: boxes do less than an Android TV stick (no Netflix app switching on older MAGs, fewer extras). Households wanting apps + IPTV often combine a smart platform with a box, or use the Formuler which covers both roles. Compare every option in the device setup guide.
Fixing the usual box problems
"Portal stuck on loading" — reboot the box (power off 30 seconds); if it persists, the portal URL changed: get the current one from support. "Some channels blank" — usually a stream-side fix; report the channel names on WhatsApp and the server team resolves them. "EPG empty" — EPG on portal boxes is delivered by the provider; a reboot pulls a fresh package. "Wi-Fi drops on MAG" — MAG Wi-Fi radios are basic; a powerline adapter or direct ethernet removes the issue permanently. Box got slow over the years? A factory reset plus fresh portal setup takes ten minutes and restores original speed.

Yes for Full HD. The MAG 254 streams 1080p reliably on a wired connection; if you want 4K or a VOD-heavy library, the MAG 420/520 or a Formuler Z8 is the better pick today.
The connection system MAG boxes use: instead of loading a playlist file, the box connects to your provider's portal URL and receives a complete channel package with its own interface and EPG.
Yes. MyTVOnline2 accepts Xtream Codes logins and M3U links directly, so Formuler works with any modern provider even when no classic portal is offered.
The same credentials work, but portal access and playlist access are different connection types — ask support to enable both for your line. Standard plans allow one stream at a time.
MAG/Formuler for a set-and-forget family TV with a remote-first interface; Fire Stick for flexibility, apps and a lower price. Both take about ten minutes to set up.
